Thompson & Morgan Raspberry Polka 3L Potted Plant X 1
Description
Raspberry ‘Polka’ is one of the best autumn-fruiting varieties - bred in Poland, it’s been extremely popular since being introduced to the UK. This primocane produces masses of fruit – up to double the yield of its parent ‘Autumn Bliss’, and crops two weeks earlier. This late-season variety begins to crop from July and continues right through to October, each plant producing up to 2.5kg of fruit. The berries have excellent flavour, particularly when freshly picked, and are great for snacking or for use in desserts or jams. These vigorous plants are very easy to grow and thrive in most conditions and soils, plus the stems are virtually spineless for easy harvesting. All of our raspberries have been inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture for pests and diseases and certified. The bare root plants are hand graded and carefully selected before packing.Grow autumn fruiting raspberry plants in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Canes should be pruned to 30cm (12")immediately following planting to encourage more shoots to be produced. Autumn fruiting varieties do not require supports for their stems. They can also be grown in large containers of soil-based compost such as John Innes no.3. Water well for the first year until plants are fully established. When berries begin to develop, place a net over the plants to protect the crop from birds. Prune raspberry canes to ground level each February and apply a mulch of manure or compost to the base of the canes. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer.Position: Full SunHeight: Up to 1.5m when fully establishedSpread: Up to 50cm when fully establishedSupplied as 1 x Raspberry ‘Polka’ plant in a 3 Litre potImages shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
