Thompson & Morgan Weigela Florida ‘Monet’ is a colourful deciduous shrub that makes a reliable and surprisingly tough specimen plant for the front of sunny borders and patio containers. Thompson & Morgan Weigela Florida ‘Monet’ has a compact, mounded habit that is perfect for smaller gardens. From late spring, the soft pink flowers complement the variegated foliage which is edged in pink and cream. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Grow Thompson & Morgan Weigela Florida ‘Monet’ in a sunny or semi-shaded position, in any well-drained soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch or well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering, cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
