Description
Tulip ‘Cream Cocktail’ is an especially elegant variety. It produces sunny yellow, goblet-shaped flowers on upright, sturdy stems, surrounded by grey-green foliage. It makes a beautiful cut flower that will bring a refreshing spring feel to your home. For the biggest impact in the garden, plant this bulb en masse in beds, borders and containers so its colour can be fully appreciated. Alternatively, grow alongside deep red tulips to create a striking colour contrast. Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 13cm (5") apart. After flowering, deadhead the faded tulip flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in summer. Caution: Tulip bulbs are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten.
